The 2006 team were bad. Without Keown coaching the defence, that season would have been an absolute disaster.

Not sure about you but going into 03/04, I felt it was inevitable we would win the league that season. The best team did not win the league in 02/03, and I felt certain the players would have been disgusted with themselves for throwing the title away the season before to such an inferior side. There was a lingering sense of disappointment at the end that we ‘only’ won the league unbeaten. (How spoilt were we back then, eh?)

But this season feels so different. We were told in August that Liverpool were about to start a dynasty of their own and Man City were back etc. So many of the same people saying we have ‘one hand on the title’ were not saying that at the start.

If we win the league this season, it will be more 98 (when we saw something historic and so special being built and unfolding before our very eyes) than 04, IMO.
